READING, Pa. – Albright Baseball (9-5-1) played the first of two in a row at home against Muhlenberg (3-10). After a deadlock following the first inning, the Lions broke through in the fourth in what would go on to be a comfortable 5-3 win.
Chris Gorla opened up the scoring for the Lions with a two-run single in the bottom of the first to score
Tommy Lewman and
Michael Avino. Avino would come around to score again in the eighth inning.
The second and third innings would each consist of quality pitching before the Lions scored the first of three runs in the fourth with
Christian Eckstein taking advantage of a throwing error.
Lewman would come through with a sacrifice fly to score
Nathan Golden before
Anthony Knight drove in the final run for the Lions with an RBI single into right field.
Each Lion in the starting lineup reached base safely at least once by either a hit or a walk in a day where the team was very selective and efficient at the plate.
The Lions bullpen combined for only one run across seven innings of work and scattered just three hits.
Landyn Shaw picked up his second win of the season while
Patrick Ahearn earned his first save over 2.1 hitless innings of work.
