KUTZTOWN, Pa. – Baseball (12-18-1) traveled to face Kutztown (15-17) prior to opening a conference series against Stevenson. Through nine innings of play, each team would put up over a dozen hits as the Golden Bears secured a 10-7 win at home over the Lions.
Tyler Boccelli wasted no time and drove in the game's first run in the top of the first with a single to right field. Boccelli was one of three Lions to have multiple hits on the day.
After the Golden Bears responded with four unanswered,
Christian Eckstein would drive in
Nathan Golden before Bocceli would reach on an error in the fourth inning in which two other Lion runs were scored tying the game at 4-4. Golden finished the day on base three times by way of a hit and a pair of walks.
Three more Lion runs would come across in the sixth inning beginning with a double from
Anthony Knight.
Chris Gorla followed up Knight's double with a homerun to left field. Gorla finished the day tied for the team lead in hits with three.
As a team the Lions recorded 13 hits in addition to five walks in what was a very successful day for the offense.
CJ Easler pitched three innings out of the bullpen and picked up a pair of strikeouts without allowing an earned run.
Ultimately the Golden Bear bats would wake up once more when it mattered most allowing them to win in front of their home crowd.
