Men’s Golf is Well Positioned After Round One of MAC Championships

The 2026 MAC Commonwealth men’s golf tournament began on Saturday afternoon under a steady rainfall. Golden Oaks Golf Club serves as the host course. Although Albright completed their round, play was halted due to inclement weather.

FLEETWOOD, Pa. – Men's golf opened the 2026 Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Commonwealth tournament on Saturday afternoon. The team finished with day one score of 317 playing in cold and rainy conditions throughout the day. Round one of play was suspended due to inclement weather.

RESULTS

Round one was suspended due to inclement weather. Three of the six teams in the field completed their rounds. Stevenson leads with a team score of 307, York in second with 308 and Albright in third with 317.

The first 18 of 36 total holes were played this afternoon at Golden Oaks Golf Club. Today's weather was less than ideal for golf, having temperatures in the 40's with consistent rainfall. Despite the tough conditions, the Lions fared well and are poised to make a jump up the team leaderboard tomorrow.

Nontaphat Veeratecha paced the Lions with a round of 76. Veeratecha will more than likely finish inside the top 10 when round one is completed tomorrow. The Lion tallied three birdies today finding them on holes two, 16 and 18.

Jonatan Liljeblad fared well overall battling the rain and cold. Liljeblad played exceptionally well from holes four to 13. Over that stretch he had three birdies playing the 10 holes at two under par.

Ashton McKechan made his MAC Championship debut this afternoon and shot an 81. McKechan found success on the par fives playing them at one under par which included a birdie on the fifth hole.

Evan Twyman matched McKechan with a round of 81. Twyman has been a consistent presence for Albright competing in the MAC Championships. With scores still to be reported after the conclusion of round one, Twyman is still very much in the mix for All-MAC honors.

August Fredrik Alhanko also made his MAC Championship debut and fired a round of 83. The back nine was the best nine for Alhanko who recorded a par on seven of the nine holes.
