Greyhounds Race Past Women's Basketball in Non-Conference Action

Box Score

BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Despite trailing the Greyhounds of Moravian College (6-2) 41-26 at the half the Lady Lions (2-6) nearly pulled out a second half comeback on the shoulders of a career best performance by senior Mallory Olsheski. However the Greyhounds managed to take advantage of Albright's 24 turnovers to earn a 74-65 win in Johnston Hall.

Olsheski's career high 20 point afternoon was fueled by a 7-for-9 performance from the field and 6-for-8 showing at the free throw line. Not afraid to mix it up under the basket Olsheski ended the day with a game high 10 rebounds as well to give the senior her second double-double of the season.

Moravian had four players finish in double-figures with Alexandra Blair coming off the bench to score a team high 18 points. Kirsty Stearns was next in line with 12 points of her won, followed by Amy Heffner and Amanda Brown who each scored 10 points.

Saturday's contest got off to a very rough start for the red and white, as the Greyhounds flew out of the gates scoring the games first 10 points. The Lions' first basket did not come until 17:33 on a Becca Pollack jumper to make 10-2.

Even with the basket by Pollack the Greyhounds continued to dominant the scoreboard extending their lead to 26 points by the 10 minute mark. Down but not out the Lions continued to chip away at Moravians lead in the final minutes of the first half. They eventually worked the large gap down to 15 before heading into the locker room.

Following the halftime break, the Lady Lions jumped all over the Greyhounds who thought they could coast through the final half.

In the opening minutes Albright pushed Moravian back on their heels as they quickly cut their the Greyhounds lead down to 13. With another run at around the midway point of the half Moravian thought they had the game won. However, Albright had other ideas as they came roaring back in the closing minutes to take Moravian's 25 point lead and cut it down to nine.

Olsheski led her team in the second half with 10 points, while Blair led her squad with 12 points. As a whole the Lions shot over 31% from the floor and 25% from behind the arc. They also managed to out rebound the host team 49-47 and forced a total of 18 turnovers.

Women's Basketball returns to action next Saturday when they host Gwynedd-Mercy College at 2 p.m. in the Bollman Center.
