READING, Pa. - After two postponements due to rain, the Lady Lions finally got their 2009 season started Tuesday afternoon at the Albright Tennis Courts. Against local rival Penn State Berks, the Lady Lions earned a 6-3 non-conference victory.
Albright started off the afternoon going 3-0 in doubles action. The duo of #
Lisa Archibald# and #
Ashley Woodcock# had their hands full with Berks' Amy Kemble and Aimee Hoffman. With the score tied at the end of the first round, Archibald and Woodcock took the tie breaker with a 7-2 decision.
At second doubles #
Anna Berzins# and #
Desiree Owle# made short work of their opponents defeating them by the score of 8-3. After a forfeit in the third doubles, the Lions were sitting comfortably with a 3-0 lead.
Moving into singles action, Archibald pulled out a 6-2, 6-1 win in first singles. Berzins also recorded her first career win with a 6-2, 6-0 third singles victory over Liz Martinez.
Women's Tennis returns to action on Saturday when they take on Commonwealth Conference rival at 1 p.m.
