READING, Pa. - With a game-high 21 points by junior
Jessica McGinness the Lady Lions (5-9/1-4 CC) were able to pick up their first conference win of the season by defeating Elizabethtown College (4-9/1-4 CC) by the final score of 76-56 Saturday afternoon in the Bollman Center.
On the day the Norristown native was 8-for-13 from the floor, 3-for-5 from three point range, and 2-for-2 at the line. She was also one of three players to record a team high six rebounds and had two assists and two steals.
Sophomore
Becca Pollack also recorded a team best six boards, while also adding 12 points of her own.
Kari Ludy managed her first career double-figure game Saturday afternoon with a 10 point showing.
Jenny Knoebel was the third Lion to finish the afternoon with six boards. She also tallied four points in 19 minutes of action.
The Blue Jays had three players finish in double-figures in scoring. Megan Strohman led her team with 15 points and had a team high five assists. Jen Schiefer was next in line with 13 points, followed by Ali Jury's 10.
As a whole, Albright was dominant on the glass totaling 44 rebounds as compared to Elizabethtown's 22. The two teams were also even in steals with 13 each. The Lady Lions also shot an impressive 53.7% from the field and 73.3% from the line as well.
At no point in Saturday's contest, did the Blue Jays ever threaten the Lady Lions control of the scoreboard. The red and white remained composed and calm throughout the entire contest and played smart basketball.
From the opening tip-off Albright was firing on all cylinders. Once the red and white got on the scoreboard there was no slowing them down. By the midway point of the first half, Albright held a solid 10-point lead over the Blue Jays.
Albright would eventually close out the opening half with 13 point lead following a 3-point basket by Ludy with 12 seconds to play.
Following the break, Albright maintained their solid play, despite an early comeback by the Blue Jays. Once the lady Lions found their rhythm, it was all over for Elizabethtown. Albright would go onto close out the contest with a commanding 20-point lead to earn the crucial conference victory.
Women's Basketball returns to action on Wednesday when they travel to Arcadia University for a 6 p.m. Commonwealth Conference game.
