DeSales Rallies Past Women's Basketball

Box Score

READING, Pa. - Led by Lori Lidlow's game high 21 points the Bulldogs of DeSales University (9-9) managed to rally back from a 15 point deficit in the second half to defeat the host Lady Lions (6-11) by the final score of 73-61 Wednesday evening in the Bollman Center.

Lidlow who transferred from Commonwealth Conference opponent Lebanon Valley earlier this year was 7-for-17 from the field with one three-pointer and was 6-for-12 at the line. She also tallied three rebounds, three assists, one block, and eight steals.

Despite two players scoring in double-figures for Albright, the team's biggest let down came in the turnovers column. Overall the red and white surrendered 32 turnovers in Wednesday's tough non-conference loss.

Finishing in double-figures for Albright was junior Rory Yerkes with a team high 15 points and Becca Pollack with 14 points. Sophomore Jenny Knoebel led the contest in rebounding with nine boards, followed by Pollack and Mallory Olsheski who recorded eight boards each.

As a whole the Lady Lions out-rebounded their opponents 43-29. From the field Albright ended the game shooting 43.1%, but it was DeSales 71.4% from three-point range in the second half that proved to be the biggest turnaround. The Bulldogs eventually closed out the contest shooting 53.8% from behind the arc.

Through the first five minute, DeSales controlled the momentum of Wednesday's contest. After a lay-up from MariLynn McMonagle which gave Albright a one point lead, the Lady Lions exploded on the scoreboard eventually extending their lead to 12 before the half.

The opening minutes of the second half favored the Lady Lions as they extended their lead to 15 in the first two minutes. Unfortunately the momentum from that large lead would dry up fairly quickly as DeSales managed to claw their way back, cutting Albright's lead to one around the midway point.

DeSales would then tie the game seconds later and would go onto control the closing minutes of the contest.

Women's Basketball returns to action this Saturday when they travel to Lycoming College for a 1 p.m. Commonwealth Conference contest.
