Lauren Higgins talks about the win and becoming the program's top setter (18 seconds)
READING, Pa. - It took just 17 assists to cement
Lauren Higgins as the volleyball program's top setter of all time. In the 3-1 non-conference win over Delaware Valley, the New York native not only broke the original record of 2,326 she shattered it as she ended the night with 41 assists to extend her new record to 2,351.
Getting those 17 assists, took a little bit longer then everyone anticipated, but once the pressure was off Higgins proved dominant as she quickly added her to her match total. To start the night off, the red and white recorded a 25-14 win in game one. After a small setback in game two, the Lions roared to two straight wins to seal the victory. Albright closed out the match with a 25-13 win in game three and a 25-17 win in game four.
With Monday's win, Higgins now has 556 assists on the year, which ranks her in the top-5 in the Commonwealth Conference. With five matches left in the regular season, Higgins should definitely add some distance between her and the original mark which was sent in 2005 by Libby Springer.
