MYRTLE BEACH, South Carolina – The Albright Softball team picked up another win Monday afternoon as they split their first day of double-header action in Myrtle Beach. Albright first recorded a 6-0 win over Baptist Bible College, then dropped a 12-5 decision to Philadelphia Biblical University in the nightcap.

Albright now holds a 2-5 record going into Tuesday's double-header, with Melanie Chapman leading the Lady Lions in game one with three hits. As a whole the red and white put up 14 hits in the shutout victory, with five other players recorded two hits.

In the circle Jaime Weckesser recorded her first win and no hitter of her collegiate career in her seven inning appearance. She tallied a total of eight strikeouts and allowed just one walk on the day.

Looking to carry momentum over into the nightcap, the Lady Lions faced a tough Philadelphia Biblical University team. Albright managed to keep it close through the first two innings, but in the top of the third, Philadelphia put up eight unanswered runs to take a 12-2 lead.

Albright eventually tacked on three more runs through the fourth and fifth innings, before Philly Bible was able to seal the non-conference win. Overall the red and white tallied nine hits in the final game, but surrendered four errors.

Despite not being in the circle Weckesser was as effective at the plate totaling a team best two hits in her four appearances at the plate. The sophomore also accounted for one of the Lady Lions five runs as well.

Softball returns to action tomorrow when they take on Becker College and Hilbert College in doubleheader action scheduled to begin at 11:30 a.m.
