Game Two Box Score

MYRTLE BEACH, South Carolina – It was another solid afternoon for the Lady Lions (3-6) as they picked up another win on day three of their spring trip. To start off the day Albright defeated Becker College 14-1 in five innings of play, and then fell to Hilbert College in a close contest by the score of 11-7 Tuesday afternoon.

Freshman pitcher Allie Frank continued had another dominant performance in the circle for the Lady Lions as she allowed just four hits in the opener. On the day Frank retired five batters, and walked just two.

Designated player Megan Keohane led the Lady Lions with three of the team's 18 hits, and two of the red and white's 14 runs scored. Also stepping up at the plate was a trio of newcomers in Kiersten Gilfoy, Brandy Lagomarsino, and Ally Martin who each recorded two hits. Gilfoy totaled a game best three RBI's and was also responsible for a pair of runs scored as well.

It did not take long for Albright to secure their third win of the year, as they put up 11 runs in just the first two innings of play. Their final three runs came in bottom of the third on impressive showing at the plate.

In the nightcap it was a late surge by Hilbert that pushed them past the Lady Lions for the win. Albright initially led the contest by as much as five runs, four of which came in the top of the first. Their fifth run of the day came in the third, but in the bottom half of that frame, Hilbert put up four runs of their own to make it just a one run game.

From there Hilbert seized control of the contest with their second four run inning to jump out to a 8-5 lead in the fourth. Down but not out, Albright clawed their way back with a pair of runs in the top of the fifth to make it 8-7. Unfortunately the momentum gained from that comeback did not last as Hilbert put up three unanswered runs to sneak by the red and white.

Overall the Lions continued to produce at the plate totaling 11 hits. Defensively they were charged with just one error, and it was senior Kelli Zimmerman who lead the team with three hits and one RBI.

Toeing the rubber in the nightcap was Dana Parolari and Jaime Weckesser. Combined the duo surrendered 10 hits, while striking out six Hilbert hitters respectively. Weckesser was handed the loss in the second game after going 3 1/3 innings.

Softball returns to action tomorrow when they take on UMass Dartmouth for the second time this week. Start time is scheduled for 1:30 p.m.
