MYRTLE BEACH, South Carolina – On their final day of their spring trip the Lady Lions (5-7) earned another split dropping a 3-1 decision to Stevenson University, while picking up a 4-0 win from Bay Path College Thursday afternoon.
With the split Albright closes out their 2010 spring trip with a5-3 record under first year head coach Amber Nichols.
In the opener the Lady Lions were held to just three hits against the Mustangs, with freshman
Jaime Weckesser recording the team's lone RBI. Weckesser also tallied a hit, along with
Kelli Zimmerman and
Megan Keohane.
Allie Frank threw all seven innings for the Lions and allowed seven hits in the 3-1 decision. The loss was her second of the season, and evens her record at 2-2. Frank tallied five strikeouts and walked just three batters.
The nightcap was highlighted by a pair of doubles for the red and white.
Becky Crandall not only recorded a double, but went 2-for-3 on the day with one RBI, and one run scored.
Kim Rose picked up the other Albright double and ended the day 1-for-3 with one run scored.
Albright tallied seven hits in the win, with
Dana Parolari leading her team in the circle. Through the seven complete innings Parolari allowed just four hits and fanned a season best seven hitters.
After a scoreless first, the Lady Lions put up their first run of the day in the top of the second. They then made it 2-0 with another run in the top of the third. To close out Wednesday's contest, the red and white put up a pair of runs in top of the seventh to secure the week's final victory.
Softball returns to action this Wednesday when they travel to Arcadia University for their first Commonwealth Conference showdown. The first pitch is scheduled for 3 p.m.
