Game 2 Box Score

DALLAS, Pa. – In their first of four games scheduled for this week the Softball team faced-off against Misericordia University (18-13) in a non-conference doubleheader. The host Cougars would take both contests by the scores of 3-2 and 5-3 to sneak by the Lady Lions (6-21) Wednesday afternoon.

In the opener Albright recorded a total of six hits, with both of their runs coming in the top of the third inning. For Misericordia their three runs came in the first two innings of Wednesday's doubleheader, as the Cougars went on to record eight hits.

Coming off of her amazing performance on Saturday against #7 Messiah College, Jaime Weckesser returned to the circle and went all six innings. In her outing, the sophomore pitcher retired six batters and for the first time this season did not surrender a walk all afternoon.

Moving into game two, the Lady Lions jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the top of the first inning. Unfortunately, the Cougars responded right back in the bottom half of the inning scoring three-runs to take a 3-2 lead.

From there another run in the third and in the fifth would seal the victory, as Albright was only able to put one more run in the top half of the fifth.

At the plate Kelli Zimmerman picked up her third hit of the day in game two after going 2-for-3 with a run scored in the opener. The senior shortstop also tallied two stolen bases to tie the all-time single season record at Albright with 22, which was set in 1988 by Kelly Rogan.

Also producing at the plate for the Lady Lions was Olivia Miller and Gloria Alfonsi who each recorded a double in the non-conference doubleheader.

Softball returns to action on tomorrow afternoon when they take on Ramapo College at 3 p.m.
