READING, Pa. - It was a solid showing for the women's tennis as they faced-off against local rival Penn State Berks. With a full roster, the red and white played extremely well, but in the end the Nittany Lions were able slip by with a 5-4 victory Monday afternoon at the Albright Tennis Courts.
Remaining undefeated at first singles was #
Victoria Foanio# who made quick work of her Penn State Berks opponent. Also picking up wins on Monday was #
Kelly Irwin# at third singles, and #
Chrissy Mouakad# at fourth singles.
In doubles competition, Foanio and #Kaitlin Kimmel# dispatched their Nittany Lion opponents in dominating fashion with an 8-1 victory.
Unfortunately, Penn State Berks was able to take a 2-1 lead after doubles play with wins at second and third doubles. From there they Nittany Lions were able to pull out wins at second, fifth and sixth singles to take the non-conference win, their first of the year.
Women's Tennis will return to action on Saturday, October 2 when they host Penn State Harrisburg at noon.
