ANNVILLE, Pa. – With a total of four double-figure scorers the No. 17/14 Dutchmen of Lebanon Valley College (17-1/7-0 Commonwealth) remained unbeaten in conference play, as they defeated women's basketball (6-9/2-5 Commonwealth) by the final score of 79-46 Saturday afternoon in the LVC Gymnasium.
Pacing the Dutchmen to their seventh straight conference victory of the year, and 12th straight game overall was Lauren Ruhl who came off the bench to lead all scorers with 16 points. Ruhl was 6-of-10 from the field, 3-for-7 from 3-point range, and 1-of-2 at the line.
For Albright, senior
MariLynn McMonagle led the red and white with a team-best 12 points. The Conshohocken native scored the first ten Albright points in Saturday's conference match-up. Unfortunately, she was not able to keep that hot streak alive as she made just one more field goal for the remainder of the afternoon. From the floor, McMonagle went for 5-for-10 which included two 3-pointers.
Also finishing in double-figures for Albright was
Jessica McGinness who totaled 10 points on the afternoon. Lebanon Valley's Caitlin Bach finished second on the team with 14 points, followed by Renee Fritz and Andrea Hoover who had 12 points. Hoover just needed five points going into Saturday's contest to surpass the 1,000 career point mark, which she did in the opening minutes of the game. Hoover became the ninth player in the program's history to score 1,000 career points.
As a team, the Lions shot a solid 42.2%, but Lebanon Valley was able to match the Lions every step of the way as they shot 45% overall on the afternoon. In the first half alone, the red and white were 10-for-20 from the field. However a combined 15 turnovers in the opening half, allowed the Dutchmen to take advantage on the scoreboard.
Albright totaled 27 turnovers, while Lebanon Valley possessed the ball extremely well turning it over just 17 times in the contest. The Dutchmen were also dominant in the paint as they held a 45-26 advantage in rebounds as well.
Women's Basketball returns to action on Wednesday when they travel to DeSales University for a 7 p.m. non-conference game.
