READING, Pa. – It was another tough afternoon for Albright women's basketball (6-11/2-6 CC) as they shot just over 32%, while conference opponent Lycoming College (8-11/3-5 CC) used 44% shooting and a 22 point performance by Kaitlyn Ober to earn a 62-51 Commonwealth Conference win over the Lions Saturday afternoon in the Bollman Center.
As a team the Lions were 17-for-52 from the floor and were not able to hit a three all afternoon. At the line the red and white shot 65% as team on 17-of-26 shooting. Lycoming's finished the game shooting 21-of-47, which included four 3-pointers. At the line the Warriors also struggled as they shot 65% on 17-of-26.
Albright had just two players finish in double-figures with
Rory Yerkes scoring a team-high 12 points.
Jessica McGinness totaled 10 points on 2-of-8 shooting from the field and 6-for-6 shooting at the line. Freshman center
Meghan Boyle combined for 11 rebounds, but managed just six points.
For the Warriors, Ober was 9-for-19 overall from the floor, and 4-for-4 at the line. She also had a team-high eight rebounds and tallied three assists, and one block and steal. Rachael Scheller was second on the team in scoring with her 14 points, followed by Julia Antonelli who had 11.
The Lions held a 39-34 advantage in rebounds, but with 27 turnovers to lead the game, the red and white struggled to find any momentum. For Lycoming their afternoon was also filled with turnovers, 21 to be exact. They did manage nine steals, while the Lions combined for six. Senior

At only one point in Saturday's contest, did Albright control the scoreboard and that was in the first four minutes. After a lay-up from Erin Connaghan, the Warriors never looked back as they held a slim advantage over the red and white.
Albright did have their chances to take back control of the momentum, but were just unable to make that key basket. In the final seven minutes of the opening half, the Lions managed to cut Lycoming's lead to one on two separate occasions. However, the Warriors were able to hang on even with the Lions clawing at their heels.
After the break, Lycoming dominated play from the opening whistle. By the 15 minute mark, they jumped out to a 10-point lead. They rode that momentum throughout the remainder of the half to take the conference victory.
Women's basketball returns to action on Monday, when they travel to Ursinus College for a 7:30 p.m. non-conference game.
