NEW YORK, N.Y. – With five seconds remaining on the clock trailing 48-50 the Lady Lions looked to beat the buzzer with a last second 3-pointer. Unfortunately the last ditch effort fell just short as Cabrini College (3-7) managed to hang on to take the non-conference win over women's basketball (3-6) Monday evening at Madison Square Garden.

The victory marks the fifth straight for the Cavaliers at the world's most famous arena. Albright, who has not played a game since early December, nearly pulled off the last second upset when Rory Yerkes' shot hit off the back of the rim and barely missed the hoop as the final horn sounded.

Combined there were 13 lead changes in Monday's match-up. Albright's largest lead came in the first half when they made it a six point game with just over 12 minutes to play. Cabrini's largest lead of the night topped off at four points in the closing minutes of both halves.

For the Lions, three players finished in double-figures with senior Jessica McGinness leading the team and game with 14 points. Behind her was freshman Meghan Boyle who tallied her seventh double-double of the season with 12 points and 10 rebounds. Off the bench Kari Ludy totaled 10 points on the night.

Cabrini used a 14 point performance from Brittany Sandone and solid shooting by Julie Bonomo in the final minute of play to earn the close win. Bonomo actually gave Cabrini their second four-point lead with just under a minute to play after going 1-for-2 at the line.

As a team the red and white struggled from the free throw line as they shot just 48% on the night. In the first half Albright went 8-for-18 at the charity strip, but managed to hold a 30-26 lead over the Cavaliers going into the halftime break. The second half was even tougher for the red and white as they scored just five field goals through the final 20 minutes. Three of those five baskets were scored from three point land.

Cabrini also struggled from the field as they shot just 27% (15-54), which included just two three's. At the line the Cavaliers were 18-for-24, and held a 45-32 advantage on the glass.

Women's basketball returns to action on Wednesday when they travel to Wilkes University for a 7 p.m. non-conference game. The Ursinus College game which was scheduled to be played in December has been rescheduled to January 31 at 7:30 p.m. and will be played at Ursinus.
