Brockport Box Score

Wooster Box Score

FORT MYERS, Florida – After splitting a pair of games yesterday, softball (4-6) fell twice to SUNY Brockport (7-0) and the College of Wooster (3-3) by the scores of 11-5 and 7-6 on Wednesday as part of their spring trip to Florida.

In their first game on Wednesday, the Lions ran into an undefeated SUNY Brockport side. Sophomore Allie Frank and junior Jaime Weckesser both took the hill for Albright, and each had trouble against a powerful Brockport lineup.

The Albright bats picked up in Wednesday's first game as the Lions smacked out a combined eight hits. Weckesser and freshman Jackie Bohanan led the way for the Lions. Weckesser finished with three hits, which included a double, and a first-inning RBI. Bohanan recorded two hits and scored a run.

Down by the score of 6-2, the Lions battled back in the home fourth. Melanie Chapman knocked in a run on a fielder's choice and Ally Martin brought in another run to cut the score to 6-4. However, Brockport would add five more runs in the final three innings to walk away with the victory.

In their second game of the day, the Lions battled back and forth until the bottom of the seventh. Wooster had runners on second and third with two outs in the inning when Albright pitcher Alex Tragno threw a passed ball, enabling Wooster's Lauren Swinehart to score the game-winning run.

Prior to the late-inning drama, the Lions kept things even throughout Wednesday's second contest. Down 4-0, Albright's bats struck in the top of the third. Key hits included an RBI single from Weckesser and a two-out, three-run homer courtesy of Bohanan. The Lions ended with inning with a 5-4 lead.

Wooster responded with two runs of its own in the bottom of the inning. The Lions once again came back and tied things up at 6-6 in the bottom of the fourth on an RBI single by Brandy Lagomarsino that scored Miriah Wilson. The bats then remained quiet until Wooster's walk-off run in the final inning.

Despite recording 18 hits and 11 runs in two games, the Lions were unable to walk away with a victory. Bohanan had a breakout day as she finished with four hits, two runs scored and three RBIs in the two games, while Weckesser also had a solid day with four hits, two RBIs and a run scored at the plate.

Softball will finish up its spring trip tomorrow with games against the University of New England at 9 a.m. and SUNY Fredonia at 11 a.m.
