ANNVILLE, Pa. – Led by two solid pitching efforts, the number 24 ranked Dutchmen of Lebanon Valley College (18-5/6-2 Commonwealth) swept softball (7-19/1-7 Commonwealth) by the final scores of 4-0 and 7-0 Thursday afternoon at LVC Softball Park.
On the day, the Lady Lions were held to just three hits, all of which came in game two. In the opener, Laura Snyder led the Dutchmen's defense with a no-hitter. Snyder walked only two batters and retired 10 others. Lebanon Valley totaled ten hits off of junior pitcher
Jaime Weckesser. They would score three runs in the second and one sixth to earn the victory.
In the nightcap Weckesser,
Kiersten Gilfoy, and
Brittany Bartok each made contact once off of Dutchmen pitcher Val Malizzia. Lebanon Valley tallied 11 hits to earn the game-two win, and scored three runs in the fourth and four runs in the fifth.
Alex Tragno go the start for Albright and surrendered all seven runs on nine hits through 4 1/3 innings.
Allie Frank closed out the game allowing just two hits.
Softball returns to action on Sunday when they host Arcadia University at 1 p.m. on the Albright Softball Field.
