The Albright College women's basketball team goes across town tonight looking to get back on track after a tough start to their Commonwealth Conference campaign, as the Lions visit local rival Alvernia at 6 p.m.

Despite struggling through a five-game Commonwealth losing streak, the Lions return to the site of their most recent league win- a 69-49 victory at Alvernia in last season's penultimate game.

Luck's 100th Career Victory

That win over the Crusaders was a special moment as it provided head coach Janice Luck with her 100th career victory in Albright's final triumph of the 2010-11 season.

Luck is now in her 10th season, and is the only coach to lead the Lions women's basketball squad to an NCAA tournament berth. She also serves as co-Director of Athletics at Albright.

Another milestone was set in that game as senior Jessica McGinness went from fourth to second on the school's all-time scoring charts with a 24-point performance.

Albright College Lions (4-11, 0-4 Commonwealth)

The Lions continue to integrate a large number of young players, led by upperclassmen Jenny Knoebel and Kari Ludy. Knoebel has consistently filled the box score, and ranks in the top-three on the squad in scoring, rebounding, assists, blocked shots and steals.

Ludy has played well as of late, scoring 19 points (the Lions' season high) in Albright's last victory (vs. Wilkes), and averaging 7.7 points over the three games following that.

Freshman Jessica Venturelli led Albright with 14 points in a loss to Elizabethtown this past Saturday. For the season, she leads the team in scoring (10.4 ppg) and has averaged a team-high 30.7 minutes per game.

Turnovers killed the Lions in their 0-3 Commonwealth start, as they averaged 28 giveaways in those three losses. Albright made some major strides in that department, protecting the ball more in a 13-turnover performance vs. Elizabethtown.

Alvernia University Crusaders (6-7, 1-3 Commonwealth)

The Crusaders are 1-3 in Commonwealth play but looked impressive in their last half of basketball, out-scoring #24-ranked Lebanon Valley by three in the second period of a 72-56 loss.

Senior center Angela Altemose is the only Alvernia player to start all 13 games this season, and she leads the squad in both scoring (14.0 ppg) and rebounding (7.6 ppg).

Overall, 12 different Crusaders have appeared in the starting lineup as head coach Kevin Calabria (now in his 23rd season at Alvernia) continues to search for his best group. Even the past three games has seen eight different players start the game, with the only constants being Altemose and senior guard Kelli McIntyre (11.0 ppg).

Other players to watch include senior Allie Toczylowski (10.4 ppg, 7.2 rpg) and freshman Kaitlyn Yoh (5.7 ppg)- the Crusaders' highest-scoring non-senior.
