Tomorrow afternoon, the Albright College women's basketball team hosts the #18 Dutchmen from Lebanon Valley College. Tip-off is at 2 p.m. in the Bollman Center.
About the Lions:
The Albright College women's basketball team enters tonight's game with a record of 4-12 overall and 0-5 in the Commonwealth Conference. Despite struggling at times, the Lions have shown great promise.
Senior
Jenny Knoebel now leads the Lady Lions with 10.3 points a game, with freshman
Jessica Venturelli adding 10.1 points a game. Sophomore
Meghan Boyle is averaging 9.1 points and 9.2 rebounds per contest.
On Wednesday night, Albright fell to Alvernia by a score of 74-59. Knoebel hit a string of three-pointers and finished with a team-high 19 points, including 5-of-9 shooting from behind the arc. Boyle (14 points, 10 boards) turned in a double-double, and junior
Kari Ludy added eight rebounds and three steals.
Freshman guards Tara Sabotchik (8.1 ppg, 4.1 rpg) and
Amanda Tiritilli (52 assists, 40.0% three-point shooting) are also making significant contributions to the Lions' efforts this season.
About the Dutchmen:
Lebanon Valley, ranked 18th in the nation, was led by juniors
Tierney Hiltz (16 points) and
Renee Fritz (13 points) in a 51-45 win over conference rivals Elizabethtown, Wednesday night. Hiltz currently leads the Dutchmen with 11.3 points per game.
On the season, Lebanon Valley has outscored their opponents by a margin of 62.1 to 49.1.
Caitlin Bach leads the team with 8.4 rebounds a game.
Lebanon Valley faced Albright's last opponent, Alvernia, one week ago. Hiltz had a game-high 23 points in the 72-56 victory, and senior
Caitlyn Murphy shot a perfect 10-for-10 from the free throw line.
Fifth-year senior Eryn Schultz now needs just 14 points to become the third 1,000-point scorer in her 07-08 freshman class (joining
Andrea Hoover and
Suzie Noyes).
