Box Score
The Albright College men's basketball team's Commonwealth Conference struggles continued as the Lions fell to 1-5 in the league following an 80-75 home defeat to Lebanon Valley on Saturday.
Sophomore
Kyle Jordan made 10-of-11 free throws and finished with a double-double (team-high 18 points, 10 rebounds). Senior
Derek Hall also had a double-double with 14 points and 13 rebounds. In his first Albright start,
Dave Singleton totaled 10 points, seven assists and four steals, but shot just 4-of-20 from the field.
The Lions struggled to reduce the deficit in a frantic second period after trailing 41-27 at the break following a sluggish first half.
Singleton was active early in the second half, scoring the first points of the period after his offensive rebound continued the possession, then stealing the ball and feeding
Shane Irwin to keep Albright within 11 points. His block then led to a Jordan basket and a nine-point gap, 43-34.
Albright attempted in vain to rally late from a 19-point deficit. With a little more than five minutes to play, Hall finished a three-point play and Singleton hit a transition trey to quickly reduce the gap to 69-56. Hall's put-back was followed by a big basket from LVC's
Danny Brooks, before four straight points from Jordan and a Singleton free throw completed a lightning-fast 10-2 run.
The Lions' comeback attempt ran out of steam however, despite getting to within five points at the final whistle.
Lebanon Valley had led 9-0 before
Sam Marrella's three-pointer finally got Albright on the board. Jordan's and-one off Singleton's inbounds made it 23-14 LVC, and Hall found
Pedro Perez with an outlet pass to cut the gap to eight.
The Dutchmen's lead would balloon to 34-18, before Marrella stopped the bleeding again from long-range.
LVC had just three bench points all day, as the three-headed monster of
Joe Meehan (16-of-18 free throw shooting, 29 points), Brooks (24 points) and
Jordan Stewart (18 points, 10 rebounds) combined for 71 of Lebanon Valley's 80 points.
The Lions fall to 10-7, and 1-5 in Commonwealth play. Albright will look to get some momentum going with a Wednesday trip to Arcadia.
