Box Score
Freshman
Amanda Tiritilli made her first five three-point attempts as the Albright College women's basketball team kept things close for a half against #18-ranked Lebanon Valley College on Saturday, eventually losing 74-42.
Tiritilli was a perfect 6-for-6, including 5-of-5 from behind the arc for the first 19-plus minutes of action, only breaking her perfect half with a last-minute forced three-point attempt that was blocked. She had 17 points at the break, and finished the game 6-for-8 from the field. Her five threes were two short of the Albright record for an entire game.
Senior
Jenny Knoebel made three three-pointers of her own and finished with a double-double, totaling 13 points and 10 rebounds. Sophomore
Meghan Boyle had six points and five boards.
The Lions hung with the nationally-ranked Dutchmen in the first half with great outside shooting. Knoebel banked in a three on Albright's opening possession to make it 3-2, and despite LVC baskets on their first three chances, it was 6-6 on Tiritilli's first trey of the afternoon.
The freshman hit another three-pointer to put Albright up 9-6, and soon drained a long three with a hand in her face to make it 14-10.
Liz Borgia pulled LVC to within one with a three, but Tiritilli drove to the left and pulled up for a jumper that made it 16-13 Lions.
The Dutchmen surged ahead, tying the score on an and-one by
Caitlin Bach, and then taking the lead on Bach's free throw. Tiritilli answered with an assist this time, finding Knoebel for three points and a 19-17 Albright advantage.
Gia Russo keyed Lebanon Valley's next response, hitting an off-balance three from the left corner and then another fadeaway from the same side to put LVC ahead 26-19. Venturelli soon followed up her own missed three and banked in a runner to keep Albright close.
Tiritilli kept Albright within six when her steal and three made it 30-24 Dutchmen. LVC soon had its first double-digit lead of the day as Russo finished off a put-back.
Tiritilli's fifth three-pointer of the game came with about five minutes left in the half. For the rest of the game, the Dutchmen keyed on her with their taller players, preventing her from getting any good looks after halftime.
Knoebel hit another time from long range to make it 57-34, but Lebanon Valley had run away with things by that point. Midway through the second half, Knoebel converted a nice drive on the fast break.
Four LVC players were in double-figures: Bach and
Renee Fritz (12 points each), and Russo and
Kiely Chaklos (10 points each). Chaklos added a game-high six assists.
The Lions are 4-13, 0-6 and will travel to Arcadia on Wednesday.
