Natalie Carlucci homered in both games as the Albright College softball team swept a Commonwealth Conference doubleheader at Lycoming, 3-2 and 7-5 on Sunday.
Carlucci was 2-for-3 with a home run in the opener as Albright hung on to win 3-2.
Stephanie Romano went the complete game and struck out four, allowing just two runs and earning the victory.
For Lycoming,
Taylor Lesser was 2-for-3 with an RBI, while
Nikki Marianelli was 2-for-3 while hitting ninth.
Carlucci led off the top of the second with a homer as Albright took first blood. The Lions added two in the fifth as
Marguerite DeLucas singled in
Alysa Romero and then scored on an error.
Down by just one run, the Warriors had runners on first and second with no one out in the bottom of the seventh, but after a fielder's choice Romano got two batted outs to close out the win.
Albright took the nightcap 7-5 in eight innings. Carlucci was 3-for-4 with another homer, two RBIs, and two runs scored.
Kiersten Gilfoy was 3-for-4 with a run while
Nikki Schwenk went 2-for-4 and scored once.
Alex Tragno earned the win after three innings of relief, allowing just two hits and one run.
Janelle Poorman (2-3, 2 RBIs) and
Brie Braga (2-4, RBI) led the way for Lycoming.
Down 4-3 in the top of the seventh,
Ally Martin knocked in Carlucci, and Gilfoy came in on an error.
Down to their last out in the bottom of the frame, Braga singled in Lesser to extend the contest. In the top of the eighth however,
Becky Crandall doubled in Wilson and Carlucci did the same to score Crandall.
Albright gets its first Commonwealth Conference victories of the season and improves to 6-15-1, 2-8.
