Victoria Foanio and
Alyssa Sell set a new single season school record with 13 doubles victories as the Albright College women's tennis team swept Division II Cheyney University, Monday in the John Scholl LifeSports Center.
Albright won every game, sweeping each set 8-0 and beating Cheyney 9-0 and 9-0 in two matches.
Sell and Foanio won twice at first doubles to first equal, and then break the mark of 12 set by
Andrea Dennis and
Kristy Stutz in 1999. Sell took over for Foanio at first singles in the second match and won 8-0.
The entire Albright squad got into the action, as nine different Lions scored points on the day.
Nazma Ali and
Katie Wolf grabbed their first singles wins of the season, in the second match.
The pair won 8-0 at third doubles in the opener, then Walke paired with
Katie Wolf to take another 8-0 decision in the second match.
Albright improves to 9-8 on the season and currently sits in third place in the Commonwealth Conference heading into a crucial final week that sees them host Lebanon Valley (tomorrow) and Messiah (Saturday) with a playoff spot potentially on the line.
