Stephanie Romano threw a two-hitter as the Albright College softball team followed an opening game loss with a season-ending 4-0 shutout, Sunday vs. visiting Dickinson.
Romano took a no-hitter into the fifth inning for the second time this week. This time, her attempt was broken up by
Katie Swade's single (who was promptly caught stealing by Albright catcher
Hillary Rodriguez).
The Lions did all their damage in the bottom of the first, scoring four times. All runs were unearned, as
Miriah Wilson and
Brandy Lagomarsino scored on an error before
Jackie Bohanan and Rodriguez unleashed RBI hits.
Romano struck out six over a complete-game shutout.
Katri Thiel took the loss but allowed only five hits and no earned runs over 5.1 innings for Dickinson.
In the opener, Dickinson ran away with an 11-0, five-inning victory. Wilson (1-2) and Bohanan (1-1) recorded hits for the Lions.
Chelsea Homa threw a two-hitter and went 3-for-4 on the mound with five RBIs. Swade was 2-for-3 and crossed the plate three times for the Red Devils.
Albright celebrated Senior Day and recognized
Becky Crandall,
Alex Tragno, and injured
Jaime Weckesser in their final home game for the Red and White.
The Lions snapped a nine-game skid and concluded the 2012 season with a record of 7-24-1.
