The Albright College men's soccer team made a single goal from freshman
Austin Phillips hold up, as the Lions defeated visiting Berkeley College (NJ) 1-0 on Thursday at Shirk Stadium.
The Lions struck in the 23
rd minute, when
Tyler Waters won an initial header and Phillips attacked the second ball, heading a powerful shot into the back of the net.
Albright senior goalkeeper
Ryan Barr came in for the second half and made a big save midway through, getting a hand on
Ramon Arce's low shot to the back post.
Storm Mathias had a great look early, but shot just wide right from 10 yards out.
Codey Short was played in over the top midway through the opening period, but shot wide.

Lamar Stewart came on in the first half and played a nice ball to Phillips, who shot wide of the post. A few minutes later, Stewart volleyed a chance inches over the crossbar.

Shawn Murphy ran onto a long throw in the 59
th minute but shot right at the goalie. Phillips was almost through late in the game, but the Berkeley center back got his foot in to block the shot at the last second.
Albright (6-2) has now won four straight games and will look to continue that run on Monday when they travel to Penn College.
