The Albright College volleyball team struggled at home in their 2012 Commonwealth Conference opener, falling to Elizabethtown 3-0 (25-7, 25-11, 25-11).
Errors played a huge roll, as the Lions hit for a negative percentage in each game while Elizabethtown hit .300 as a team. Albright also committed six service errors.
Senior
Casey McFadden led the Lions with 12 digs and 19 receptions, while junior
Christa Mantz had 18 receptions and a team-high four kills.
Jordan Gibson added eight receptions.
The Blue Jays grabbed a 15-5 lead in the first set following a pair of service aces by freshman
Juliana Mowen. Libero
Carolyn Lukiewski was then serving for eight straight plays, finally committing an error but not before helping her team pull away.
An outstanding dig from
Taylor Beck got Elizabethtown off and running in the second game, and sophomore
Kelci Scannapieco came up with four solo blocks in that set alone.
Albright is 0-2 on the year and will face Penn State Brandywine, along with the hosts, in a tri-match at Rowan University this Saturday.
