Already at one win more than the team had in the 2011-12 season, the Albright College women's basketball team welcomes the Warriors of Lycoming College to the Bollman Center for a critical Commonwealth Conference matchup at 6 p.m.

Previous Meeting

The previous meeting between the Lions and Warriors came during the 2011-12 season with Lycoming coming away with a 54-48 victory over Albright.

Senior Jenny Knoebel led the Lions through the battle dropping 15 points to go along with eight rebounds and four assists. Junior Kari Ludy also scored in double figures (10 points) to help the Lions.

Freshman Samantha Martin (five points, five rebounds) and sophomore Meghan Boyle (12 rebounds) also had strong games for the Lions in the loss.

Albright College Lions (7-8, 3-5 Commonwealth)

Even with their record under .500 in conference play, the Lady Lions know that every contest from here on out is an important one as this is the first year that five teams make the league tournament at the end of the season.

Albright dropped a tough conference game on January 12th as they played their second game of the season versus a team who is nationally ranked in Lebanon Valley.

The Lady Lions could not hang with the up-tempo style of the #20 Dutchmen as LVC jumped out to an early first half lead and continued to build that lead through the rest of the game, eventually winning the game by an 18-point margin, 69-51. Ludy led the team in scoring against LVC with 16 points and freshman Kelecia Harris chipped in with a team-high seven rebounds.

Boyle is the only Albright player who is averaging double-figures in points this season, averaging 10.5 PPG.

Lycoming Warriors (3-11, 3-5 Commonwealth)

Lycoming has three wins to their credit this season, but those three wins have come during conference play, which keeps them in the race for the fifth and final playoff spot.

The Warriors are coming off a 57-55 overtime victory over Stevenson University in Owings Mills, Md. With stellar defense and freshman Olivia Manges scoring the game-winning basket for Lycoming in the overtime period with 1:28 to go, the Warriors kept pace with the middle of the pack in the Commonwealth Conference.

Like the Lions, Lycoming has only one woman in double-figures for the season in points. Junior Julia Antonelli leads Lycoming in the points department with 10.8 PPG. Antonelli also leads the Warriors with 9.5 rebounds per game, leaving her half a rebound shy of averaging a double-double for the season.

Youth has been a factor for the Warriors of Lycoming as Manges and Shannon Wheeler are only freshman, but are helping the Warriors by adding 7.2 and 7.0 PPG, respectively.

Commonwealth Conference Playoff Race

Albright and Lycoming come into this game both vying for the final spot in the Commonwealth playoff race, along with the Blue Jays of Elizabethtown.

A single game separates Albright and Lycoming from Elizabethtown and the fourth position in the standings.

With Messiah, Lebanon Valley, and Widener at the top of the conference and in a comfortable position to make the tournament, there is no room for error from Albright, Lyco, or E-Town, as both Hood College and Alvernia University are nipping at their heels, hoping to slip into that fifth and final playoff position.

MAC 100 All-Century Teams

Voting is now open for the MAC 100 All-Century winter teams, as the conference celebrates its centennial this year. Squads are being chosen for each era in conference history and an impressive list of Lion legends have been nominated. Albright women's basketball nominees include four-time first team All-Conference selections Beckie Yoder and Alison Koch, and Academic All-American Jarra Rusnock.
