After a critical win over Lycoming to move up in the Commonwealth Conference standings, the Lions hope that there is no hangover as they travel to Chester, Pennsylvania to face the Widener University Pride in a game scheduled to begin at 3 p.m. on Saturday.

Previous Meeting

The Red and White faced Widener earlier in the season in a game that saw Albright keep control from the beginning tip to the final buzzer, handing Widener an 84-61 defeat.

Albright benefited from a total team effort as 13 of the 15 players who dressed for the game scored, led by senior Dave Singleton who had eight points, 11 rebounds, and nine assists in limited time with the outcome of the game decided early.

Senior Zach Benjamin had a team-high 18 points for the Lions, who only trailed once in the game when the score was 2-0.

Albright College Lions (13-3, 6-3 Commonwealth)

The Lions are coming off a game against Lycoming that saw 18 lead changes throughout with the last change going Albright's way, giving them an 83-78 win.

Singleton dropped a career-high 25 points for the Lions, hitting a step-back jumper with 58 seconds to play to put the game away.

On the season, the Red and White have four players averaging double figures in points. Along with Singleton (14.6), Pedro Perez (13.1), Kyle Jordan (11.4), and Zach Benjamin (10.1) have all averaged more than 10 points on the season.

Widener University Pride (4-12, 3-6 Commonwealth)

Widener comes into the game with Albright fresh off a tough loss to defending conference champion Messiah, 72-61.

Sophomore Dillon Fields, who leads the Pride in scoring with 10.6 ppg, had a game-high 21 points in the loss to Messiah.

Widener finished the 2011-12 season with an 18-8 record, but have been in a re-building phase this season. The Pride have only six upperclassmen, with 12 freshmen and sophomores looking to use this season as a building block for the future as the team seeks to climb back into elite status in the Commonwealth Conference.

Who's Next?

After doing battle with Widener, the Lions will welcome Arcadia to the Bollman Center on January 23rd for another critical Commonwealth contest. The Lions will look to keep pace with Alvernia who currently sits on top on the Commonwealth Conference standings.

Widener's schedule does not get any easier after their matchup with Albright as Lebanon Valley will make the trip to Chester for a clash with the Pride on January 23rd. Although Widener and Leb Val currently find themselves on the outside of the playoff picture, both teams hope to climb the standings in search of that fifth and final Commonwealth Conference tournament spot.
