The Albright College women's basketball team enters the second half of its 2012-13 Commonwealth slate and will travel to third-place Widener on Saturday afternoon.

Last Time Out/Commonwealth Picture

The fact that the Lady Lions of Albright and the Warriors of Lycoming came into last Wednesday night's game tied for the fifth and final playoff spot in a tight Commonwealth Conference game was not lost on anyone who was on the court as both teams battled back and forth, with Lycoming eventually claiming the victory by a score of 54-52.

The last 5:54 of the game saw neither team lead by more than two points as the Lions (7-9, 3-6 Commonwealth) and Warriors (4-11, 4-5 Commonwealth) traded baskets back and forth. Albright now trails Lycoming by a game for the fifth and final playoff spot and trails Elizabethtown by two games for the fourth spot.

At the top of the standings, Widener (7-2) is just one game behind Lebanon Valley (8-1) for second place, while Messiah (9-0) made it through the first half of its league schedule without a loss.

Previous Meeting

The Lions made several second half runs but couldn't get all the way back, losing 64-55 to Widener in the Bollman Center, back in early December.

Freshman Kelecia Harris had her best stat line of the season thus far, totaling 16 points, 15 rebounds and three blocked shots. Junior Meghan Boyle also had 16 points, and sophomore Jessica Venturelli added 11 points and six assists.

Albright College Lions (7-9, 3-6 Commonwealth)

Harris continues to establish herself as one of the best freshmen perhaps in the nation, leading the Commonwealth in field goal percentage (56.1) and blocked shots (1.7 bpg). She is third in rebounding, pulling down 9.3 boards per game.

Along with Harris (10.5 ppg), Boyle is also averaging in double-figures (10.1 ppg) while adding 7.6 rebounds per contest. Sophomore Tara Sabotchick is shooting a blistering 50% (16-32) from behind the arc.

Widener University Pride (12-4, 7-2 Commonwealth)

The Pride (12-4, 7-2) made the Commonwealth championship game last season and missed pulling into a tie for first place with a hard-fought 67-58 loss to #5 Messiah on Wednesday.

Junior guard Jennifer Egee leads in scoring (13.1 ppg) for a squad that has out-scored its opponents by over 14 points per contest. Kate Dellinger is in double-figures (11.9 ppg) while leading the team in rebounding (7.9 ppg).
