Following a 74-62 road win over Messiah last month, the Albright College men's basketball team will be looking for another victory over an NCAA tournament team when the Lions host Misericordia tonight.
Previous Meeting
Misericordia entered last year's NCAA tournament on a 15-3 run, a streak that started after a 61-56 home loss to Albright however.
The Lions rallied back from a 13-point second half deficit as senior
Derek Hall was 10-of-17 for a game-high 23 points. Sophomore
Reuel Moore added 15 points on 6-of-9 shooting, including 3-of-4 from behind the arc. Junior
Cornell Mickens had game-highs with eight rebounds and three steals.
Ethan Eichhorst had 20 points for MU, while
Matt Greene scored nine and dished out a game-high seven assists. Sharpshooter
Jeff Slanovec equaled Mickens' game-high eight rebounds but went just 1-of-9 from the field.
Albright College Lions (10-1)
The Lions have now won five straight after taking a pair of games on a holiday trip to Puerto Rico. Albright beat Muhlenberg 78-76 and then easily dispatched Goucher 69-48.
Senior
Dave Singleton ranks eighth in the nation in assists, while also ranking in the top-50 in rebounds and steals. His five double-doubles were two short of the national leaders, as of the last statistical rankings.
Misericordia University Cougars (6-5)
The Cougars are 2-0 in the Freedom Conference despite several big losses from their 2011-12 team, including Eichhorst, a D-III News All-American selection.
Point guard Greene directs the offense, leading the way with 11.7 points and 4.9 assists per game. Athletic senior
Sean Bieski returns to the lineup after missing the first semester, and
Steve Ware is averaging 10.8 points and a team-leading 7.8 rebounds per contest.
Head Coaches
Rick Ferry begins his 12th year with a 10-1 start for the Lions in 2012-13. Under Ferry's direction the Lions have participated in seven Commonwealth Tournament playoffs, winning the Commonwealth Tournament Championship and claiming NCAA Tournament berths in 2003-04 and 2009-10. Ferry was named Commonwealth Coach of the Year in back-to-back seasons (2003-04 and 2004-05).
Trevor Woodruff, a former player at Misericordia, led the Cougars to their first-ever NCAA tournament appearance last season. He is now in his ninth season in charge.

Albright basketball is now providing live video streaming for home games; contests are available for $5.95 for a single game or $19.95 for a three-month pass.
