Fresh off a four-point win over the Pride of Widener University, the Albright men's basketball team will look to run their winning streak to three games, which would be the team's third winning streak of at least three games this season, as they welcome the Arcadia Knights for an 8 p.m. matchup in the Bollman Center.
Previous Meeting
At the end of November, the Lions and Knights clashed in a tough battle with Albright ultimately claiming victory by a score of 84-73 on Arcadia's campus.
Senior
Dave Singleton had a team high for the Red and White with 18 points, but it was junior
Pedro Perez who led the team in the second half of play. Perez dropped 13 of his 15 points in the final period to help the Lions leave with a win.
Albright College Lions (14-3, 7-3 Commonwealth)
The Lions went down to Chester, Pennsylvania last Saturday and stole a 71-67 victory from Widener University.
Missing the career high in points that he set earlier that week by a single point (25 against Lycoming), Singleton stayed hot and dropped 24 points to lead the Lions. Singleton's last bucket of the night was, without a doubt, his most important as the senior hit the game-winning shot with 46 seconds left on the clock.
With less than a month left in the regular season, Albright finds themselves a half-game behind Alvernia for first place in the conference. Games left with Alvernia, Lycoming, and Elizabethtown, who defeated the Lions earlier in the season, show that Albright has no room for error down the stretch.
Arcadia Knights (11-6, 6-4 Commonwealth)
The Knights will roll into Reading following a tight 77-75 victory over Stevenson University.
Sophomore
Joe Brown was Arcadia's top scorer in the win over Stevenson. Brown dropped 22 points, which brought his team-leading average up to 13.9 ppg.
Currently sitting in a tie for the fourth spot in the Commonwealth Conference standings, the Knights also have games left against Alvernia and Lycoming that they will have to find a way to win if they hope to move up the standings.
Singleton Named to National Team of the Week
Albright senior
Dave Singleton was named to the D3hoops.com National Team of the Week and was also named Commonwealth Conference and ECAC South Player of the Week for his efforts against Lycoming and Widener last week.
Against Lycoming, Singleton scored a career high 25 points in the victory and pulled down 12 rebounds. At the time, Lycoming was sitting at the top of the Commonwealth Conference standings.
Singleton then went on to score 24 points against Widener to lead the Lions to a four-point victory. In that game, Singleton scored the game winning basket with 46 seconds left.
