The Albright College women's basketball team takes on the Elizabethtown College women on Saturday, January 5 in the Bollman Center at 4:00 p.m.  The ladies of the Red and White will look to defeat the Blue Jays as they return for their first home game of 2013.

Albright College Lions (6-5, 2-2 Commonwealth)

The Lady Lions' two-game win streak was broken on Thursday night as the team took on the Cabrini College Cavaliers, who are currently tied for first place in the Colonial States Athletic Conference.  The score was 63-45, as the closest the Lions could get to the Cavaliers was a nine-point deficit.

Albright's game against Cabrini was the first since the team's return to Reading, Pa.  The Lions spent time after Christmas in Daytona Beach, Fla. for the Land of Magic Classic, where they played Averett College and Norwich, successfully fighting for the “W” in both.

Starters so far this year for Albright include Meghan Boyle, Tara Sabotchick, Jessica Venturelli, and Kari Ludy in all 11 games, along with freshman Kelecia Harris, with eight starts in nine games, and junior Shawn Barczynski, with three starts in 11 games.

Boyle has scored the most points for the team this year, averaging 11.5 points a game, with 126 points overall.  Harris leads the team in rebounds, averaging 9.3 per game with 84 overall.

The Albright women have committed more turnovers than their opponents (22 per game to 15.5), but are out-rebounding opponents 41.2 to 35.9.

Elizabethtown College Blue Jays (2-7, 1-4 Commonwealth)

The Elizabethtown Blue Jays are coming to Reading fresh off of a loss to York College on Thursday night.  The York College Spartans are currently undefeated and nationally ranked at #11.  Taylor Kreider led the team with 18 points for the night, with a 50% shooting percentage.  She also added a game-high 14 rebounds.  Nadine Yunginger and Kendra Beittel followed behind Kreider as leading scorers for the Blue Jays.

Elizabethtown's three main starters are Kreider, Beittel, and Katy Fogel, each starting in all nine games.  Rachel Forjan and Taylor Santor have both started in five of nine games, while Yunginger and Taylor Alwine have started in four games.  Fogel leads the team in field goal percentage, at .391.  Free throws seem to be a strong point for the Etown women, with four players averaging over 75% accuracy.

Head Coaches

Janice Luck is in her 11th season as head coach of the Lady Lions, and also serves as the co-director of athletics at Albright College. Luck's 100th career victory came against Alvernia, as the Lions won by 20 points over the Crusaders late in the 2010-11 season.

Sherri Gorman is an Etown alum, class of '84, and is in her first season with the Blue Jays as their head coach.  She was inducted into the Ira R. Herr Athletic Hall of Fame at the college for her performance when she was an outstanding member of the team.  She coached the well-known Lancaster Mennonite High School girls' basketball team for nine seasons prior to accepting the head coaching position in Elizabethtown.
