The Albright College women's basketball team travels to Maryland to face Stevenson University for the first time, as the Mustangs join the Commonwealth Conference for the 2012-13 season.

First-Ever Meeting

This will be Albright's first-ever meeting against Stevenson (formerly Villa Julie College).

The Lions did attend Villa Julie's tournament in 2006-07, facing Shenandoah and Juniata. Albright defeated Shenandoah 67-57 behind 28 points from Annie McMahon and an 18-point, eight-rebound effort from Jackie Hardwick. The Lions then defeated Juniata 59-50 in the final, getting 18 points and eight rebounds from McMahon.

Albright College Lions (6-6, 2-3 Commonwealth)

Albright lost a tough 67-65 home decision to Elizabethtown on Saturday, despite Tara Sabotchick registering an Albright season-best 22 points for the second time in three games. Sabotchick hit two three-pointers in the final six seconds but the Lions couldn't come all the way back despite getting to within three points on three separate occasions within the final three minutes.

Junior Meghan Boyle leads the team in scoring (11.3 ppg) while ranking second in rebounding (7.4 rpg). Freshman Kelecia Harris is nearly averaging a double-double with 10.4 ppg and 9.1 rpg, along with a team-leading 15 blocks.

Stevenson University Mustangs (4-4, 1-4 Commonwealth)

The Mustangs have only played eight games so far this season, with two non-conference games still remaining along with a heavy conference slate. Stevenson is 1-4 in the Commonwealth, but has already faced two of the top three teams in the standings.

No player is averaging in double-figures for a team that is scoring 53.1 points per contest. Sophomore Kyarra Harmon leads the squad in all five major statistical categories: scoring (8.4 ppg), rebounding (6.4 rpg), assists (19), blocks (13) and steals (13).

Head Coaches

Janice Luck is in her 11th season as head coach of the Lady Lions, and also serves as the co-director of athletics at Albright College. Luck's 100th career victory came against Alvernia, as the Lions won by 20 points over the Crusaders late in the 2010-11 season.

Jackie Boswell is in her second season at Stevenson after earning a playoff berth in her first year as head coach, leading the Mustangs to a CAC first round game against Salisbury (a 62-56 loss).

Commonwealth Conference Picture

With five teams making the league tournament, Albright is in a three-way tie with Alvernia and Hood for fourth place overall at 2-3. As expected #8 Messiah (6-0), #12 Lebanon Valley (5-1) and Widener (5-1) are at the top, but the race for the final playoff spots looks to be wide-open. Elizabethtown (2-4) and Lycoming (2-4) are lurking and Stevenson would be back in the picture with a victory tonight as well.

MAC 100 All-Century Teams

Voting is now open for the MAC 100 All-Century winter teams, as the conference celebrates its centennial this year. Squads are being chosen for each era in conference history and an impressive list of Lion legends have been nominated. Albright women's basketball nominees include four-time first team All-Conference selections Beckie Yoder and Alison Koch, Academic All-American Jarra Rusnock, along with McMahon and Hardwick.
