The Albright College women take on Hood College tonight in the Bollman Center at 6:00 p.m. With only three teams in the conference owning a winning record, the Lady Lions look to improve their standing with a home win.

Albright College Lions (6-7, 2-4 Commonwealth)

The Red and White's conference wins include games against Arcadia and Alvernia, back in December. The Lions played well in their games over winter break in Orlando, but since their return, they have fallen victim to a three-game winless drought.

In their last home game, against Elizabethtown, the buzzer came perhaps just one possession too soon, as Albright lost by only two points. The team then went on the road to Owings Mill, Md. where they lost to Stevenson University by 15 points, a team that fell to the Hood Blazers this season.

In their effort at Stevenson the Lions showed much better statistics in the second half.  Their first half percentages totaled only 46.2% from free throws, 33.3% in field goals and 25% in three pointers. In the second half the Lions recorded a 66.7 percent accuracy in free throws, 48.1% in field goals and 28.6% from shots outside the arc. Starters were Meghan Boyle, Kelecia Harris, Kari Ludy, Tara Sabotchick and Jessica Venturelli

The Lions are just 1-3 in home games this season.

Hood College Blazers (4-8, 2-3 Commonwealth)

Hood's conference victories this season include a win over Stevenson and Lycoming.

On Monday night, the Blazers came close to bringing home a much-needed win. They fell to Hollins University in Roanoke, Virginia. The game went in to overtime, finally ending with a five-point loss, 76-71.  Highlights for the Blazers included Shakara Head's second collegiate double-double, with a team-high 19 points and 16 rebounds. Briana Lee boosted her season-high to 16 points, which included four three pointers.

On Saturday afternoon, the women lost to Arcadia Knights, a team Albright overcame 77-64 back in November. The Blazers fell to the Knights 69-50. Lee, a sophomore, found herself in the middle of the action and walked away with a season-high 14 points.  She was the only one of her teammates to score over 10 points.

Dyanna Prater has scored the team's high points in eight of their 12 games. She scored 20 points against N.C. Wesleyan.  Head has scored the team's high points in four games.  She also had the highest rebounds for the team in six of their games. Head's season highs are 26 in points, and 16 in rebounds.

Prater and Rachel Wiley, a solid rebounder, are the only two on the squad to start every game.  Emily Maerz, Rachel Kessler, and Head have all started in five or more contests.

New to the Commonwealth Conference

Hood is a first year member of the Commonwealth Conference. Prater earned Commonwealth Player of the Week honors on December 3, earlier this season. Prater is a senior.

Albright College is one of the original members of the Middle Atlantic/Commonwealth Conferences.
