The Albright College men's basketball team hosts the Wyndham Reading Holiday Tournament on December 29-30.

Tournament Schedule

The tournament opens with Pitt-Bradford vs. Farmingdale State on Sunday at 2 p.m., and follows with Albright-York at 4 p.m. The consolation game is 2 p.m. on Monday, with the championship game to follow at 4 p.m.

Familiar Faces

Two former Lions will be coaching on opposite benches this weekend. Pitt-Bradford head coach Britt Moore is in his third season after serving as an assistant coach with the Red and White from 2006-11.

York assistant coach Ryan Van Zelst is an Albright alum, and the twin brother of current Lion assistant Adam Van Zelst. Also former Albright assistant Mike Riley, who was with Albright for the past four seasons, played for York.

Albright College Lions (3-5)

In a game Albright nearly locked up on numerous occasions, the Lions fell 95-92 in a double-overtime thriller to visiting Franklin & Marshall on December 17. The Lions dropped to 3-5 on the season after nearly knocking off a Diplomats team that had been in the Elite Eight three times over the past five seasons.

Albright led by five within the final three minutes of regulation, and then by at least that much in each of the two overtime sessions. Senior Pedro Perez finished with a career-high 28 points on 9-of-20 shooting, and added 11 rebounds for a double-double. Sameen Swint had 19 points on 7-of-13 shooting, and Kyle Jordan added 13 points before fouling out late in the second half.

Jordan had earlier been named the Commonwealth and ECAC South Player of the Week after a double-double and the game-winning basket in a big road conference win at Widener.

York College Spartans (1-7)

York fell to 1-7 on the season with a loss to Alvernia University this week. The Spartans already share three common opponents with Albright, as both teams have lost to Alvernia, Wesley and Messiah.

In his first season as a starter, senior forward Matt McNeely leads the team in both scoring (13.0 ppg) and rebounding (8.0 rpg). York has nine freshmen on their roster.

Pitt-Bradford Panthers (4-3)

The Panthers are 4-3 heading in this week. They are participating in tournaments at both of Moore's most recent coaching stops, after going 1-1 in the Laurel Line Tourny at Misericordia (where Moore worked as an assistant before coming to Albright).

Four Pitt-Bradford players are scoring in double-figures, led by junior Keith Burgess (13.7 ppg) and senior Brandon McClester (11.1 ppg).

Farmingdale State Rams (5-3)

Farmingdale State went 20-8 last season and missed the NCAA tournament by one game behind first team All-American A.J. Matthews. The 7-foot-1 center averaged 22.6 ppg, 14.7 rpg and 2.9 bpg, and earned a Summer League spot with the New York Knicks.

While Matthews is gone, current center Donald Law is currently leading the nation in blocks with 43.
