The Albright College men's basketball team is in need of a victory as the Lions host Arcadia ahead of a big road game on Saturday.

Previous Meeting

Led by five players in double figures, including redshirt-junior Pedro Perez with a career-high 24 points, the Lions were able to down the Knights 86-76 in front of their home crowd last January.

Perez was joined by seniors Dave Singleton (15 points) and Cornell Mickens (12 points) and juniors Sam Marrella (10 points) and Reuel Moore (10 points) in double figures to lead the Lions to victory.

Albright led by a slim margin, 56-54, with 12:30 to go in the second half, but a timely 13-3 run over the next five minutes allowed the Lions to open up the game.

Series

The Lions hold a 10-0 all-time record against Arcadia, who switched to the Commonwealth Conference (from the Freedom side) in 2008-09.

Albright College Lions (1-3, 0-1)

The Lions are 0-1 after opening Commonwealth play with a home loss to Messiah last week. With a tough matchup across town Saturday at defending league champion and rival Alvernia, Albright will be looking for a win tonight against an up-and-coming Arcadia squad.

Senior Perez has scored a team-best 22 points in back-to-back losses against Messiah and Misericordia; for the year he leads Albright with a scoring average of 15.3 ppg. Freshman Sameen Swint is averaging 12.0 ppg, while sophomore Calvert Gantz has blocked 11 shots. Sophomore Evan Ward and freshman Josh Marquez are other underclassmen averaging double-digit minutes early in the season.

Arcadia University Knights (3-1, 0-0)

Arcadia went 16-11 in 2012-13, earning its first postseason appearance since 2006. The Knights then beat Stevenson 85-83 to earn their first playoff victory since 2000, and nearly knocked off eventual league champion Alvernia in a hotly-contested semifinal.

Head coach Justin Scott was named the Commonwealth Conference Coach of the Year after turning the program around in his first season in charge. The Knights return two All-Conference selections this season- juniors Joe Brown and Travis Saltus. Brown leads the squad in scoring (17.3 ppg) and rebounding (6.5 rpg), while Saltus is second in scoring (12.8 ppg) and first in assists (11).
