The Albright women visit Alvernia in a big local rivarly game, the opponent in two of their biggest moments from a season ago.

Previous Meeting

The Lions won easily in their road game at Alvernia last January, pulling away for a 68-45 victory.

Kelecia Harris had a double-double with 14 points and 12 rebounds in just 23 minutes of action. Fellow rookie Emily O'Donnell nearly had one as well (12 points, nine rebounds), in just 14 total minutes. Kristi McFadden came off the bench and contributed seven points on 3-of-4 shooting, four rebounds and six assists. Meghan Boyle had seven points and seven boards.

Up 19-17, the Lions closed the first half on a 19-4 run. McFadden, now a senior, took over late, driving for a 60-37 lead and then hitting Shawn Barczynski with a nice pass for a 64-40 advantage. McFadden then converted a hard drive to the hole to put the Lions ahead 66-40.

Memorable Comeback

In their 2012-13 meeting on Albright's campus, the Lions finished the game on a 20-2 run to grab a shocking 62-60 victory in the Bollman Center. The Lions' run all came on the back of the same unit, as Kari Ludy, Amanda Tiritilli, Tara Sabotchick, Harris and Kadijah Bishop meshed perfectly down the stretch to pull back a game that appeared lost.

Down 58-42 with 6:25 to play, Tiritilli started things up with a three-pointer, and Sabotchick followed with a jumper on the next possession. Harris' layup cut the deficit to single-digits, with more than five minutes still left to play.

A put-back from Kayla Long gave the Crusaders a much-needed basket, but it was the only two points they would score over the final 6:39 of the contest. Bishop answered immediately with a bank shot, and then fed Sabotchick for a wide-open three-pointer that tied the contest with 1:30 to play.

Alvernia missed a pair at the free throw line and the Lions found themselves inbounding the ball with 21 seconds left and the shot clock turned off. Harris cut right to the hoop and finished off the lay-in, and Albright left with a 62-60 victory.

Series

Albright is 6-17 all-time against Alvernia, but did win both matchups last season.

Albright College Lions (3-2, 1-1)

The Lions improved to 1-1 in the Commonwealth Conference after beating Arcadia 62-55 on Wednesday in the Bollman Center. Junior Jessica Venturelli had 14 points and four assists for Albright, both game-highs, and made 8-of-10 free throw attempts. Harris had 10 points and four blocks, while classmate O'Donnell added nine points and six rebounds.

Harris was forced to sit for long stretches in each half due to foul trouble, with the Lions hanging in admirably without their best player. For the season, Harris is averaging 15.8 ppg and 9.2 rpg but playing just 23 minutes per contest due to fouls.

Alvernia University Crusaders (4-2, 0-2)

The Crusaders started the season 4-0 but then lost a pair of close games to open up their Commonwealth Conference schedule- 66-61 at Stevenson and 65-61 vs. Lycoming. After trailing for all but 31 seconds against Stevenson, Alvernia had a halfime lead against the Warriors but couldn't hold on in the second half.

Sophomore Chelsea Ebersole has already made 25 three-pointers this season and is averaging 14.8 ppg. 6-foot-2 freshman center Tyra Roberts leads the way with 15.0 ppg.
