The Albright College women's basketball team travels to Maryland tonight, looking for a season-sweep against new conference opponent Hood College.

Previous Meeting

The Lions broke a three-game skid in style, taking a 73-52 decision from Hood on January 9 in the Bollman Center.

Freshman Kelecia Harris was 7-of-12 from the floor and totaled 15 points and 16 rebounds for an emphatic double-double. She also had four steals and two blocked shots. Albright's bigs were solid all around as junior Meghan Boyle had 11 points, eight boards and four assists, and freshman Emily O'Donnell added 12 points and seven rebounds.

The Lions jumped out to a 43-26 halftime lead, holding a 33-15 rebound advantage after pulling down 16 offensive boards in the opening period. Harris nearly had a double-double in 14 first half minutes, totaling 11 points and nine rebounds.

Commonwealth Playoff Picture

At 5-9 in the Commonwealth, the Lions are tied for sixth place with local rival Alvernia and one game back of Lycoming (6-8) for the fifth and final playoff spot. Albright could have a chance to move back into a tie for the final spot, with Lycoming traveling to face nationally-ranked Lebanon Valley tonight.

While Albright swept Alvernia this year, Lycoming still holds the top two tie-breakers over the Lions with a head-to-head win, and a victory over fourth-seeded Elizabethtown (neither team has beaten any of the league's top-three). The Lions need to keep winning, heading into a huge game at Lycoming next Tuesday.

Albright College Lions (9-12, 5-9 Commonwealth)

Harris continues to rank among the national leaders in her rookie season at Albright. She is currently fifth in shooting percentage (58.2), 45th in blocks (2.2 bpg), 57th in rebounding (9.9 rpg), and 61st in double-doubles (eight). With games against the top-three Commonwealth teams out of the way, Harris has the potential to improve those numbers if she can stay out of foul trouble in these remaining contests.

Sophomore Tara Sabotchick missed last weekend's loss to Lebanon Valley, but is key to Albright's offense with 9.2 ppg and 56 assists. Her three-point shooting percentage of 46.2% remains on pace to shatter the school single-season record, set last year by classmate Amanda Tiritilli (40.7%).

Hood College Blazers (5-16, 3-11 Commonwealth)

The Blazers have lost 14 of 16, following a 3-2 start to the season. They are in their first year as a member of the Commonwealth Conference.

Senior Dyanna Prater leads the team in scoring, with 12.8 ppg. Freshman Shakara Head has battled injuries but is a big threat in the post, totaling 8.6 points and 7.7 rebounds per contest. Head (33) and Rachel Wiley (26) are both shot-blocking threats for the Blazers.

Saturday Events

Saturday is Albright's final regular season home game of 2012-13, and senior Kari Ludy will be recognized before tip-off. Albright will also hold its annual “PinkZone” breast cancer fundraiser.

MAC 100 All-Century Teams

Voting is now open for the MAC 100 All-Century winter teams, as the conference celebrates its centennial this year. Squads are being chosen for each era in conference history and an impressive list of Lion legends have been nominated. Albright women's basketball nominees include four-time first team All-Conference selections Beckie Yoder and Alison Koch, and Academic All-American Jarra Rusnock.
