The Albright College women's basketball team hosts Stevenson on Saturday and will celebrate Senior Day, along with hosting an annual “PinkZone” cancer fundraiser.

Commonwealth Playoff Picture

Albright moved back into a tie with Lycoming for the fifth and final Commonwealth playoff spot with a victory over Hood this week. The Warriors do still hold two crucial tie-breakers however- a head-to-head win over Albright and a victory over fourth-place Elizabethtown (the next tiebreaker would be record against conference teams in descending order, and neither squad has beaten any of top three teams). The Lions close out the season next week with road games against Lycoming and Elizabethtown, and will likely need victories in both to even up those two tiebreaker scenarios.

Albright College Lions (10-12, 6-9 Commonwealth)

Freshman Kelecia Harris had 26 points and 20 rebounds as the Lions beat Hood 60-47 on Wednesday in Frederick, Md. Harris' 20 rebounds is tied for sixth all-time at Albright. Her 26 points were the most by a Lion since Bre Dillon dropped 29 against Messiah, back in February, 2009. Both statistics were career-highs.

The Lions set other season-highs in the victory, including 59 team rebounds. Junior Meghan Boyle's 6-for-6 free throw performance was also the best by an Albright player this season, as was Harris' 10 made field goals.

Stevenson University Mustangs (7-13, 4-11 Commonwealth)

The Mustangs are 7-13, 4-11 but beat the Lions 74-59 earlier this season, behind three treys each by Stephanie Martinez and Sam Murray. Martinez equaled a school record with six made three-pointers on Wednesday, in an 84-50 loss to Messiah.

In their first season as a Commonwealth Conference team, the Mustangs are led by Martinez, with 10.0 ppg. The freshman also leads the team in assists (45) and steals (28), while Murray is pulling down a team-best 5.1 rebounds per contest.

Senior Day

Saturday is Albright's final regular season home game of 2012-13 and Albright's lone senior, Kari Ludy, will be recognized before tip-off.

Ludy, an art and design major from Pottstown, Pa., has appeared in 86 career games, starting 39 of them. She has totaled 515 points, 261 rebounds, 118 assists and 100 steals over her career. Ludy has started all but five games over the past two seasons, and averaged a career-best 8.3 points per game last year.

Ludy is second on the team with 27 steals this season, and also ranked second on the squad in that category last year.

Pink Zone

The Albright College women's basketball team will hold its annual “PinkZone” breast cancer fundraiser game this weekend. The Lions will be wearing Pink shirts and raising money for cancer research.

The Pink Zone aims to fight against breast cancer on the court, across campus, and within communities.  The campaign promotes cancer awareness and empowers survivors through year-round efforts to raise funds critical in supporting vital breast cancer organizations, charities, and facilities that focus on breast cancer education, prevention, diagnosis, and treatment.
