Lions Earn Senior Day Victory

Box Score

Freshman Kelecia Harris had another monster stat line as the Albright College women's basketball team earned a 75-70 Senior Day victory over Stevenson University.

Harris finished with 26 points, 17 rebounds, and a career-high eight blocks, after putting up 26 points and 20 rebounds vs. Hood earlier this week.

In her final career home contest, senior Kari Ludy had a big game with 16 points, eight rebounds and two steals. Junior Meghan Boyle added 12 points and six rebounds.

Harris had a double-double by halftime, with 16 points and 11 rebounds. That included a pair of three point plays late in the half, to pull Albright to 30-28 down, and then to give the Red and White a 33-30 lead.

A Harris block led to Boyle's drive for two as the Lions led early. Albright later took a 9-7 advantage on Jessica Venturelli's three-pointer.

Stephanie Martinez hit a long three to put Stevenson on top 14-11, but Harris answered with a put-back and fellow rookie Kadijah Bishop soon followed with a 20-footer. Another long-range trey from Martinez gave Stevenson a 25-21 advantage later in the first half.

Boyle's put-back made it 48-35 early in the second half, and she scored again to make it 50-39. Harris' third and-one of the game made it 53-39 with 14 minutes to play.

Martinez hit yet another three-pointer in  transition to pull Stevenson to 55-48, but Tara Sabotchick answered immediately. A tough put-back from Harris put Albright up 59-50.

Ludy grabbed an offensive rebound and converted a three-point play for a 62-52 Albright lead, and later executed a perfect pick-and-roll with freshman Emily O'Donnell to push the score to 70-58.

Martinez made 4-of-7 threes to equal Harris' game high of 26 points. Kayla Kelly was also in double-figures for Stevenson, with 11 points.

The Lions improve to 11-12, 7-9 and remain tied with Lycoming for the final Commonwealth playoff spot, setting up a must-win game at the Warriors on Tuesday evening.
