The Albright College baseball team finally opened Commonwealth Conference play after a six-day delay, but struggled through cold and wind in an 18-8 loss at Lebanon Valley on Friday.
Junior
Nate Peiffer was 3-for-4 and scored a run, while sophomore
Alex Myers was 2-for-4 with a run.
Junior
Collin Hecker was just 1-for-4, but continued an eight-game hit streak and knocked in three runs.
Max Dundore and
Tyler Meckley each scored twice.
The Dutchmen benefitted from three triples, including a pair by
Phill Dohner.
Andrew DeCew had the other three-bagger, while
Derek Brousseau launched a home run.
LVC jumped out to a 9-0 lead after scoring five runs in the fourth and four in the fifth.
The Lions did rally, scoring four times in the top of the sixth. Hecker singled in Dundore, and
Dylan Boll's sacrifice fly scored Peiffer.
Evan High brought Hecker home, and Meckley scored on a error. Dundore would then score in the seventh to cut the gap to 9-5.
The Dutchmen put the game away however, with nine more runs over a two-stanza period in the seventh and eighth innings.
Sophomore transfer
Trey Hook pinch hit in the ninth and had a two-RBI double that brought home Meckley and
Zac Okonski.
Albright is 6-4, 0-1 and will look to get back on track tomorrow with a home doubleheader vs. the Dutchmen.
