The Widener Pride totaled 26 hits and 25 runs in eight innings, as the Albright College softball team dropped a pair of road games on Sunday.
The Lions lost the opener 13-3, and game two 12-3, both in five innings.
The Commonwealth Conference doubleheader was pushed back from Saturday due to field conditions, which in turn postponed Albright's originally scheduled doubleheader at Franklin & Marshall.
In game one, freshman
Emily O'Donnell was 1-for-2 with a solo homer. She would later take the mound for the first time in game two.
The Lions got right on the board in the top of the first, as junior
Hillary Rodriguez doubled in both
Shelby Snyder and
Brandy Lagomarsino.
Widener answered with two runs, but O'Donnell's home run to center field restored a 3-2 Albright lead. The Pride would score eight times in the fourth inning to pull away and end the game in five innings.
In the nightcap, sophomore
Natalie Carlucci launched her team-leading sixth home run of the season. She was 1-for-2 with three RBIs on the day. Lagomarsino was 2-for-3 and scored once.
Carlucci hit a three-run homer in the top of the third that pulled Albright close at 4-3. The Pride would respond immediately with another eight-run stanza however.
The Lions are 5-23, 2-12 and will host Rosemont on Tuesday in a re-scheduled doubleheader.
