The Albright College softball team had a four-game win streak snapped on Saturday, dropping both ends of a home doubleheader to Alvernia.
The Lions were in game one until the final innings, ultimately losing 7-2 to the defending Commonwealth Conference champions. Alvernia took the nightcap 16-7.
In the opener, senior 
Brandy Lagomarsino was 2-for-3 with a run scored, and classmate 
Kiersten Gilfoy was 2-for-3 with a run and two RBIs. Senior 
Nikki Schwenk recorded Albright's other hit.
Senior pitcher 
Allie Frank scattered eight hits and struck out five over seven innings. Alvernia did all their damage in the third (three runs) and seventh (four runs) innings.
The Lions had led until the third inning after scoring twice in their first ups. Gilfoy launched a two-run shot that brought Lagomarsino in.
In game two, Gilfoy was 2-for-3 with another homer, and sophomore 
Natalie Carlucci was 2-for-4 with a run scored.
Junior catcher 
Hillary Rodriguez was also 2-for-4 with a run, and Lagomarsino went 1-for-4 with a run and an RBI.
Freshman 
Shelby Snyder singled in Lagomarsino and 
Nikki Schwenk in the bottom of the fifth inning, and junior 
Marguerite DeLucas doubled in Carlucci and 
Jackie Bohanan in the seventh.
The Red and White fall to 9-25, 2-14 on the season, and travel to Dickinson on Wednesday at 5 p.m. (note the recent date change).
