The Albright College softball team had a four-game win streak snapped on Saturday, dropping both ends of a home doubleheader to Alvernia.

The Lions were in game one until the final innings, ultimately losing 7-2 to the defending Commonwealth Conference champions. Alvernia took the nightcap 16-7.

In the opener, senior Brandy Lagomarsino was 2-for-3 with a run scored, and classmate Kiersten Gilfoy was 2-for-3 with a run and two RBIs. Senior Nikki Schwenk recorded Albright's other hit.

Senior pitcher Allie Frank scattered eight hits and struck out five over seven innings. Alvernia did all their damage in the third (three runs) and seventh (four runs) innings.

The Lions had led until the third inning after scoring twice in their first ups. Gilfoy launched a two-run shot that brought Lagomarsino in.

In game two, Gilfoy was 2-for-3 with another homer, and sophomore Natalie Carlucci was 2-for-4 with a run scored.

Junior catcher Hillary Rodriguez was also 2-for-4 with a run, and Lagomarsino went 1-for-4 with a run and an RBI.
