Box Score
After a long 1-1 deadlock through the fifth inning, the Albright College Softball team eventually fell 6-4 to Dickinson College in a close ballgame.
Albright jumped out to an early lead in the first inning as senior right fielder
Brandy Lagomarsino singled and stole second base to lead off the inning. After a fielder's choice advanced her to third, Lagomarsino later scored when
Natalie Carlucci reached on an error putting the Lions up 1-0.
Dickinson answered back in the bottom half of the first inning on a pair of hits and a walk given up by senior pitcher
Allie Frank, tying the score.
The game remained tied 1-1 through the fifth inning as together Frank and
Cassie Blyler only allowed three hits combined through the next four innings.
Finally, the Lions broke the scoring drought in the top of the sixth as Lagomarsino recorded her second single and steal of the day. Following a fielder's choice,
Kiersten Gilfoy drove in her teammate on a single to left field putting Albright on top 2-1.
In the bottom of the sixth, the Lions' lead was diminished as they allowed five runs on only two Dickinson hits.
Trailing 6-2 in the top of the seventh, Albright staged what looked to be a comeback. Junior
Jackie Bohanan led off the inning with a walk but was shortly followed by two strikeouts. After another two walks, the bases were then loaded for the Lions. With two outs, freshman
Shelby Snyder drove in a two-run single, cutting Dickinson's lead to 6-4. With two runners left on base, the Lions' comeback ended on a strikeout.
Today's defeat puts the Lions to 9-26 on the season. Albright's next game is a doubleheader vs. Lycoming College starting at 1 p.m. on Saturday. Five seniors will be recognized beforehand.
