After a tough three-game Commonwealth skid, the Albright women conclude their non-conference schedule with a home game against Penn State-Berks.
Previous Meeting
Albright dominated both halves of a 71-43 road victory early last season. The Lions led 35-17 at halftime, and in the second half they shot 57.1% while holding the Nittany Lions to just 24.1%
Kelecia Harris led the way with a double-double, totaling 14 points (on 7-of-9 shooting) and 10 rebounds.
Meghan Boyle added 10 points and six boards, while classmate
Kristi McFadden hit a pair of threes and finished with 12 points overall. McFadden also had four assists, and Harris added three blocks.
Breah Strickler was in double-figures for Berks with 11 points, while
Sherrie Satchel and
Nichole Young-Trapp each had 10.
Albright Lions (7-5)
The Lions were 7-2 but have lost three straight Commonwealth games to teams in the top half of the standings, by an average of just 5.7 points.
On Saturday, the Lions fell 60-57 to host Elizabethtown, who was receiving votes in the D3hoops.com Top 25 poll. Sophomore
Emily O'Donnell continued her efficient play for Albright with 18 points in 19 minutes, on 7-of-12 shooting. Freshman
Shannon Thomas added 10 points and five assists.
DIII News Honorable Mention Preseason All-American
Taylor Kreider had a big day for Elizabethtown (10-1 overall), with 21 points, 21 rebounds and six steals. Kreider was an All-NEAC player as a freshman for Penn State-Berks in 2010-11, and also set the school's single-season soccer scoring record, before transferring to Etown.

Penn State is 0-9 on the season, and on a 12-game losing streak overall. The Nittany Lions are facing their second local Commonwealth Conference opponent of the season; Berks lost 95-70 to Alvernia despite having four players (
Amber Hess-Moore,
Shanelle Koch,
Khadijah Robinson, Young-Trapp) in double-figures.
