The Albright College men are coming off one of their biggest wins of the year so far, but still need a victory Saturday in the race for the final playoff spots in the Commonwealth Conference.

Commonwealth Standings

The Lions are 7-6 overall, sitting 1.5 games ahead of Lebanon Valley after the Dutchmen's midweek game vs. Hood was postponed to Monday due to inclement weather. However, with the Dutchmen holding a win over Albright from earlier this season, LVC could take over the fifth and final playoff spot with a pair of wins over the next three days.

The Lions trail Stevenson (8-4) by just one game, and host the Mustangs next Saturday. #17 Messiah College (10-3) is in first place.

Previous Meeting

LVC leading scorer Kevin Agnew sparked an 11-0 run to open the game as the Dutchmen ran off to an emphatic 78-57 win over Albright in the Bollman Center last month. Agnew made 16-of-17 free throws and finished with a game-high 28 points for the visitors.

Seniors Pedro Perez (15 points) and Kyle Jordan (14 points) led the Lions in scoring, while each missing a double-double with nine total rebounds. Perez added four steals.

Albright College Lions (11-9, 7-6)

Albright earned a big crosstown win over Alvernia on Wednesday in the Bollman Center, holding off the defending Commonwealth Conference champions for an 80-72 victory. Now the Lions face their other closest rival with a trip to Annville this weekend.

In front of a pair of packed student sections, Jordan turned in a double-double with 20 points and 11 rebounds. Fellow senior Perez also had a double-double with 14 points and 15 rebounds.

Freshmen Sameen Swint (14 points) and Josh Marquez (11 points) were in each in double figures and made important baskets for the Lions. Junior Evan Ward (9 points) made all four field goal attempts, and defensively sophomore Calvert Gantz totaled three blocks and four steals.

Gantz is closing in on the school single season record for blocks- his 54 rejections are 13 short of the mark. Jordan has 41 blocks this season and holds Albright's career record (currently 130).

Lebanon Valley College Dutchmen (7-12, 5-7)

Agnew (26.6 ppg) is third in the nation in scoring in his junior year, and has shot 152-of-180 (.844) from the free throw line. Sophomore Kyler Burke is second on the team in scoring with 10.8 ppg, and senior Joey Giangiobbe adds 8.6 ppg and a team-best 5.7 rpg.
