After seeing their first seven games of 2014 either canceled or postponed, the Albright College softball team finally got on the field Tuesday in Myrtle Beach, S.C.

Albright had three single games scheduled for Monday: vs. Lasell, Spalding and New Rochelle, but all three were canceled due to rain.

After some more schedule reshuffling on Tuesday, Albright split a doubleheader vs. Lasell. The Lions dropped a high-scoring opener 9-7, before closing out the Lasers 9-1 in five innings.

Originally slated to face Gallaudet in the afternoon, Albright ultimately played an extra game against Spalding University, losing 12-7.

Freshman Amanda Toto was 3-for-4 with two doubles and six RBIs against Spalding. Senior Jackie Bohanan was 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored.

Freshman Katie Civitello started on the mound against Spalding, while also scoring two runs to help her cause.

The Lions will be back in action Wednesday morning with a doubleheader against Gallaudet.

Lasell is a school from Boston who was also playing their first games of the 2014 season. Spalding, from Kentucky, is 4-6 on the year.
