Softball Splits With Gallaudet in Myrtle Beach

Game One Box Score
Game Two Box Score

The Albright College softball team took the opener and had their chances to sweep, splitting a Myrtle Beach doubleheader with Gallaudet on Wednesday.

The Lions took game on 8-4, and dropped the second contest 3-2 despite outhitting Gallaudet 11-8 and stranding five runners over the final three innings.

Albright jumped all over the Bison with a  five-run, two-out rally in their first time up. Katie Civitello singled in Natalie Carlucci, and Jackie Bohanan came in on a wild pitch.

Freshman Amanda Toto singled in Civitello to make it 3-0, and then scored along with Megan Gaughan on Aubrey Koch's hit.

Toto continued her red-hot collegiate start, going 2-for-4 with an RBI and two runs scored. Gaughan was 2-for-3 with a run scored, while Carlucci was 1-for-3 with an RBI and a run.

In the second game, Koch and Shelby Snyder each went 2-for-3. Bohanan was 2-for-4 with a run scored.

Gallaudet opened up an early 3-0 advantage, but Albright pulled two back in the fourth. Toto doubled in Bohanan and later scored on Nicole Bartron's single to left-center.

Trailing 3-2, the Lions stranded two in the fifth and couldn't plate Koch after the sophomore delivered a one-out double in the sixth. Snyder advanced to third in Albright's final chance, but a popup ended the threat.

Civitello started both games on the mound for Albright, striking out seven total batters. She is 2-3 on the year, as are the Lions- who play Saint Joseph's Connecticut in a doubleheader tomorrow.
