Game One Box Score
Game Two Box Score

The Albright College softball team opened Commonwealth Conference play on Sunday, losing a pair of 5-4 games to host Arcadia.

The opener was decided in the eighth inning. Arcadia's Erin Wilson singled to open the stanza. Katherine Ghyzel and Nicole Larro each tried to bunt her along, with the Ghyzel reaching on a hit and Larro's bunt leading to an error and Wilson coming home for the winning run.

Freshman Jalene Garcia was 3-for-4 with a run scored. Natalie Carlucci and Shelby Snyder each recorded two hits while scoring once and adding an RBI.

Freshman Katie Civitello scattered three earned runs over eight innings and struck out four,  but took the loss in extras.

Albright nearly rallied from a 5-1 deficit in their final chance in the nightcap, cutting the lead to one and leaving the bases loaded with their best hitter at the plate.

Civitello led off with a single, and Jackie Bohanan and Marguerite DeLucas each walked to load the bases.

The Knights made a pitching chance and moved three fielders around, followed by Civitello scoring on an error and Megan Gaughan drawing a walk to make it 5-3. Garcia walked to bring DeLucas in, but Carlucci struck out to end the game.

Civitello was 3-for-4 at the plate, while Bohanan went 2-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored. Freshman Amanda Toto was 2-for-4, while Gaughan was 1-for-3 with an RBI.

Albright is 2-7, 0-2 and faces another road conference doubleheader tomorrow, across town at Alvernia.
